CELEBRATE BY PARTICIPATING:
October 1st and 2nd, 2016
Bigger and better than ever! MAXtoberfest, aka "Color in the Catskills" will be huge this year.
Join us at Hunter Mountain, NY for a weekend of BMW Motorcycle and Oktoberfest fun. From tame to insane, there's something for everyone. Here's a rundown of the planned events:
Oktoberfest at Hunter:
All day on both days, the Hunter Mountain base area will be filled with local vendors celebrating Oktoberfest. There will be a craft show in the main lodge, live german bands, beer tents, german food kiosks, chairlift rides to the top of the mountain and more. Admission to the Oktoberfest activities is free.
BMW Demo Truck:
The BMW Demo truck will be on site both Saturday and Sunday. Take a new BMW for a tour through some of the region's best roads and enjoy the comforts and performance of the newest BMW lineup. Demo rides are free. Registration is first-come, first-served on the day of the demos. Sorry, no advance registrations.
Teach McNeil Stunt Shows:
Throughout the day on Saturday, Chris "Teach" McNeil will be putting his favorite BMW Motorcycles through the paces in the stunt arena. Teach has jaw-dropping skills and is a born entertainer. All shows are free.
The most anticipated event of the weekend will be the 6-hour GS Challenge that is guaranteed to provide plenty of entertainment for competitors and spectators alike. Riders will negotiate a prepared course consisting of at least 10 different skill stations all over the mountain, some of which will be scored on time and others will be scored on success or performance.
Events such as head to head grass-drags, slow races, parallel logs and box turns, will be super-fun to watch and have easy spectator access at the base of the mountain. The GS Challenge will take advantage of Hunter Mountain's varied terrain and there will be single-track time trials, hillclimb challenges (always a crowd favorite), a timed enduro circuit and everyone's favorite mud time trial where riders work to successfully negotiate a muddy, rutted track that always looks much easier than it is!
Entry fee is $40 for competitors and includes dinner (see below.) Even though the event is titled the GS Challenge, it is open to all riders of all abilities, on any marque or displacement. GS Riders, bring your KLR, KTM, Honda, Husky, Suzuki, Yamaha and other knobby-footed friends! Online registration is now open for this event. Read more about it and register here.
Saturday Night Dinner
On Saturday night, we will open the Colonel's Hall in the main lodge to celebrate a great day. The banquet will feature awards from the GS Challenge, a buffet dinner with a free beer, and door prize drawings. The dinner is included with GS Challenge entry, but you can join in the fun without getting muddy by buying a Dinner-Only ticket which entitles you to dinner and a free beer and eligibility for door prizes. See the menu and purchase your Dinner tickets here.
Note: Dinner tickets are limited and will not be available at the door. Get yours now!
Saturday Night 80's Rock Concert
After dinner, America's most authentic 80's tribute band, MULLETT, takes the stage. These guys will crank out your favorite hits and provide serious hair-band party entertainment!
Premium On-Site Lodging at Hunter
By far, the easiest and most enjoyable way to experience the weekend is to stay right at Hunter Mountain. Suites and condos are available at the Kaatskill Mountain Club and Liftside Condos. There are also plenty of area hotels, motels, B&Bs and Inns in the area. Check out Hunter's Lodging Page here.
Camping is not allowed on-site at Hunter Mountain, but there is a state campground nearby at North-South Lake in Haines Falls.
