Join us June 19th, 2016 for our first SUNDAY Track Day! This track day is open to riders of any brand motorcycle, so bring your friends, no matter what they ride! What's even better is that this track day is only $150 - much less than your typical track day fee!
If you're feeling the need to shake off those cobwebs, work on your skills, or just take a day to twist the throttle on a closed course, please make your reservation ASAP.
Enjoy a full day at the track at Canaan Motorsports Park in Canaan, NH. You'll be joined by many of your friends from MAX BMW as well as vintage BMW racers from TEAM MAX BMW.
Our track events are all about learning... not how fast you can go, or how many people you can pass. Riding well and having confidence in your bike are the goals we're after. We make track time affordable and accessible so all rider levels can safely explore the behavior of their equipment in a controlled environment. Beginners and 1st timers highly encouraged. Our rider coaches are there to help hone your skills and learn new ones!
The field will be split into two groups: a fast motorcycle group and a slow motorcycle group. The fast group is for advanced riders who have done many track days before or race. The slow group will be for beginner track day riders who have never done a track day or only a couple of track days. Limited passing will be allowed in the slow group. Groups will rotate every 20 minutes. We will have instructors on hand to answer questions and do lead/follow for beginners. That's a lot of riding for only $150. Space is limited, so sign up now! Online registration is open.
Bikes: This is a muffled event. 95 Db Max.
Passengers: Passengers are not allowed.
Preparation: You’ll need to start with a motorcycle that is in proper mechanical condition and has good tires. When you get to the track, remove your mirrors (you won’t need them) and any luggage or extra bodywork that could potentially fall off. Our friends at FIshtail Riding school (who we work with for our riding schools) have a good section on their website about preparing your bike for track day: https://www.fishtailridingschool.com/track-day-prep/
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Registration opens at 8:00 AM - please stop and sign waivers at the small hut near the entrance gate before parking your vehicles.
Worker/instructor meeting will be at 8:30 around the blue MAX BMW EZ-Up. This is for staff only.
Riders meeting will be at 8:45 in the same area. Please be geared up and ready to ride!
1st group will be on track at 9:00 and we will wrap up by 4:00PM.
Morning temps may be cool until the sun has a chance to do it's thing, so don't forget to bring warm clothes.
There are several convenience stores near the track, and a Dunkin Donuts if you're coming in Rte. 4 from the Lebanon area.
We do not stop running for lunch, so bring snacks or food to keep your energy up. We will have plenty of water available and pizza around Noon.
Don't worry about sitting out a session whenever you want to eat - we will have lots of track time!
For setting up your Pit Area - please park on the grassy areas between the paved pit lanes after you register and keep the paved lanes open for traffic.
There are no garages at Canaan, so an EZ-Up and something to sit on can be helpful. There will be a couple porta-potties in the pit area, and there are two normal bathrooms in the building near the entrance of the track (short walk).
As soon as you unload, track down Doug Morrison to get your bike and gear through tech inspection 1st thing.
All bikes and riders must go through tech before being allowed on track.
Canaan is a very fun track with smooth pavement and lots of corners to practice on all day.
We'll have two rider groups alternating every 20 minutes, so you will get lots of laps. There is no formal classroom instruction. Our on track instructors will pair up with you in small groups or 1 on 1 if you wish. The lead/follow/debrief method works very well here, and everyone learns a lot!
Everything else will be covered in the workers/riders meetings, so if you're new to Canaan or track days, don't worry! We'll make sure you know where to go and what to do.

About Track Day:
Smart riders know that attending a track day is a worthwhile investment your riding career. Here’s why: every time we go out on the street on our motorcycles, we have a whole world of variables in front of us that we need to be aware of and manage. Road conditions, traffic, weather, sun angles, wildlife and just thoughts about where we are going and why all occupy space in our brain and do not allow us to fully concentrate on riding well. Track days remove these variables so you can work on your skills in a relaxed and fun environment. In a typical day, you will spend some time in the classroom talking about optimizing your riding and then take tons of laps on the track with instructors who will tailor their advice to your needs and desired level of input. It’s a common misconception that track days are only for racers and high performance enthusiasts. The reality is that the majority of track day participants are regular riders of every ability on every kind of bike. Bottom line: you’ll have a great time and you’ll return to the street a much better rider.
